Licensing Expo Welcomes the World to Las Vegas

Licensing Expo, the world’s largest and most influential licensing industry event, is pleased to welcome new Pavilions and increased representation from countries including Mexico, India, China, Japan and the U.K. Licensing Expo takes place June 9 to 11 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. These new exhibitors join a growing list of international companies and featured Pavilions that include Brazil and Korea, with China and Japan significantly expanding their footprint at the 2015 show.  Brands from more than 35 countries will be represented on the show floor. eOne Expands into the Mass Market, Adds Licensees for Peppa Pig

Entertainment One Licensing (eOne) will offer Peppa Pig product to the mass market this year for the first time, and has already added licensees and retail partners.

Beginning this spring, Amscan will debut a line of Peppa Pig party goods, including paper and plastic tableware, foil and latex balloons, invitations, thank you notes, party decorations, and more. In addition, Palamon will introduce Peppa Pig costumes, masks, dress-up accessories, and treat carriers in time for Halloween.

Other licensees include Better Toys for sporting goods; Primary Colors Corp. for novelty stationery and confections; Fiesta Toy for amusement plush; Scholastic and Candlewick Press for books; and Redan for a magazine.

Scholastic Releases Licensing Program for Goosbumps Movie

Scholastic is celebrating the theatrical release of the Goosebumps motion picture, based on the series by R.L. Stine, with a new collection of licensed products. The offerings include T-shirts, costumes, video games, novelty toys, and more. More than a dozen licensees have signed on to produce Goosebumps products in advance of the film from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The full list of licensees are as follows:

  • Berkshire – Headwear, footwear, rain gear, winter accessories, and socks
  • C-Life – T-shirts, fleece and thermal tops for men, women and children
  • Card.com – Pre-paid payment cards

  • SG Companies – Girls and boys sleepwear and slippers
  • SRM Idea Lab – Novelties, including light/sound slammers, slap bracelets, flashlights, plush sound gloves, book lights, lenticular bookmarks, sound machines, compound toys, and plush
  • Trends International, LLC – Posters and bookmarks

The Goosebumps motion picture will make its debut on Oct. 16.

Brand Central Announces Promotions

Jodi BogdanoffBrand Central LLC has promoted two of its key team members as the agency continues to grow.

Jodi Bogdanoff is now vice president of licensing, having formerly served as licensing director. In her new role, Bogdanoff will oversee many of the agency’s food and beverage consumer products programs, including clients such as Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, ABC’s The Chew, MasterChef, and Beekman 1802. Bogdanoff will also continue to head up Brand Central’s team on the east coast.

Nancy SanieoffNancy Sanieoff has been promoted to senior licensing manager, where she will help manufacturer clients develop new strategic platforms to drive growth and innovation through licensing and contract-manufacturing partnerships. Sanieoff currently manages manufacturing clients including Schreiber Foods, Jel Sert, Brand Castle, and U.S. Playing Cards.

Lonely Planet Announces Dedicated Consumer Products Division; Seeking Agency Representation

Lonely Planet, a global travel media company, announces a new division—Lonely Planet Consumer Products—and the appointment of Drew Rowley as global director, consumer products. Lonely Planet will begin seeking international brand licensing agency representation immediately.

The new department will be dedicated to identifying opportunities and developing strategic partnerships to bring Lonely Planet into a variety of channels, including merchandise for both adults and children.

“It’s a fantastic time for Lonely Planet to expand into consumer products when our books business is continuing to grow and our digital offering is accelerating,” said Lonely Planet Chief Marketing Officer Shona Gold. “We believe there is a role for Lonely Planet to extend globally into multiple ranges of products which will further enable and enhance travelers’ trips.

Bulldog Licensing Signs New Deals for Talking Tom and Friends

Bulldog Licensing has sealed a new deal that will see a range of personalized products featuring Talking Tom and Friends go on sale across North America.

Talking Tom and Friends is the flagship brand of Outfit7. The property features six characters—Talking Tom, Talking Angela, Talking Ginger, Talking Ben, Talking Pierre, and Talking Hank—who star in apps, music videos, and a series of web shorts produced in conjunction with Disney.

The new agreement has been signed with SongsWithMyName Services Ltd., which will develop and launch a range of personalized music products, including CDs, DVDs, and books that will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada.

Sony Pictures Consumer Products Celebrates 50 years of I Dream of Jeannie

This year, I Dream of Jeannie celebrates 50 years since its first release to American households. Sony Pictures Consumer Products is marking the milestone with a licensing program that includes apparel, entertainment, and more.

IGT‘s re-launch of an I Dream of Jeannie Video Slot Machine includes two games and six bonuses. In addition, Sony will release a commemorative high-end fashion doll from Tonner Dolls. The anniversary program will also continue to offer existing categories in die-cast cars from Greenlight Collectibles, costumes from Rubie’s for kids and adults, T-shirts from Trecvo Inc., and home entertainment DVD re-promote of the series across major retailers.

LIMA Licensing Awards Deadline Is Next Week

The LIMA Licensing Excellence Awards are the industry’s most prestigious recognition of outstanding creativity and performance. Each year, the best of all major segments of licensing are honored for their testimony to the professional and dynamic accomplishments of the licensing industry. 

The deadline to submit is Monday, March 2nd.
