Postal Celebrates the Adventures of Harry Potter with Limited-Edition Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service dedicated 20 new Forever stamps to the magical world of Harry Potter. Images of Hogwarts castle and Harry’s many friends and villains, including Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Professor Severus Snape make up these exclusive stamp books.

The stamps, based on the Warner Bros. film, are on sale at usps.com/stamps, at the Postal Store on eBay at ebay.com/stamps, and by calling 800-STAMP24 (800-782-6724).

Michael Bayer Joins Saban Brands as Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs

Saban Brands has appointed Michael Bayer as the company’s new senior vice president of business and legal affairs. Bayer will lead the global legal team at Saban Brands, focusing on entertainment efforts and working with executives from TV production, network operations, worldwide distribution, and content acquisition and exploitation.

Bayer joins Saban Brands with highly relevant experience and a varied background as a business affairs and entertainment attorney, as well as an experienced producer with numerous feature film and television credits.

Most recently, Bayer served as executive vice president of business and legal affairs for Image/RLJ Entertainment (RLJE), Robert Johnson’s publicly traded worldwide entertainment company with distribution rights to more than 5,200 titles. During his six years at Image/RLJE, Bayer closed hundreds of acquisitions and sublicensing deals, served a stint as general counsel and corporate secretary, and quarterbacked the acquisition and distribution of film libraries and IP assets, including The Criterion Collection, Lakeshore Films, Handmade Films, and many more.

A Squared Entertainment And Genius Brands International Merge to Create Branded Multi-Media “Content with a Purpose” for Kids

Genius Brands International Inc. and A Squared Entertainment LLC have announced a merger to form an intellectual property (IP) and multimedia content creation and distribution company focused on branded “content with a purpose” for kids.

Combining the assets and experience of both companies, the two companies will be consolidated under the Genius Brands International banner. Andy Heyward, formerly CEO of DIC Entertainment and co-president of A Squared Entertainment, will assume the role of chairman and CEO of Genius Brands International; Amy Moynihan Heyward, formerly co-president of A Squared Entertainment, will serve as president; Klaus Moeller, currently CEO of Genius, will become Genius Brands vice president of special markets, and will continue with the company as a member of its board of directors. Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz Opening Reception Held at Paley Center

CBS Consumer Products teamed up with The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles to hold a premiere reception for the gallery exhibition Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz on November 18. The exhibit features 80 retro-styled poster prints created by artist and lifelong StarTrek fan Juan Ortiz, inspired by each of the episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series. The exhibit runs from November 20 until January 5.

Juan Ortiz was on hand to sign copies of his book Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz, and was joined by Star Trek: The Original Series actress Nichelle Nichols (Lieutenant Uhura), CBS Consumer Products senior vice president and creative director Jorge Ferreiro, and CBS Consumer Products vice president of creative Keith Lowenadler.
