Nelvana Enterprises has finalized a deal with Discovery Kids Latin America for the broadcast of the CG-animated preschool series Mike the Knight. The series is set to air on the network in Latin America in Spanish and Portuguese in the coming months.
Mike the Knight follows a young knight-in-training on a series of quests and adventures throughout the medieval land of Glendragon. Mike brings the excitement and enchantment of medieval times into the life of modern preschoolers. The series is co-produced by Nelvana and HIT Entertainment.
The series airs on major broadcasters in the U.S. (Nickelodeon and Nick Jr.), Canada (Treehouse), UK (Cbeebies), Australia (ABC) and France (TF1), and is set to launch in more than 20 territories in the coming months.
In a multi-year agreement, Merriam-Webster and Word Winder Inc. are partnering for a national program that cross promotes Merriam-Webster with Word Winder, a new brand of board games, mobile apps and puzzles books developed by David L. Hoyt, Steve Bullock, and Graeme Thomson.
As part of the deal, visitors to Merriam-Webster’s official websites can play Word Winder CrossWinder. In addition, all Word Winder board games and mobile apps feature Merriam-Webster as the official dictionary. In Word Winder, players attempt to create a continuous winding line of words creating a path from one side of the board/screen to the other. Through the partnership, players are encouraged to visit www.Merriam-Webster.com to confirm spelling, definitions, and language use while playing.

Babies “R” Us has new introductions of infant developmental toys from Kids Preferred, and play mats and nap mats from Venture Products. Target’s See Spot Save program launched 20 different World of Eric Carle products this month, including stationery and tote bags from Innovative Designs, socks from PS Brands, and feeding utensils and containers by Zak Designs. Following the success of its World of Eric Carle infant developmental toy inline program, Kohl’s selected the brand for its semi-annual Kohl’s baby event, kicking off in September, offering consumers great deals on the latest baby products.
Momentum for the brand continues to build as all partners gear up for the 45th Anniversary of Carle’s most famous title, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, in 2014.
Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products has been chosen by The Jim Henson Company to represent the merchandising business in the UK and Ireland for animated preschool series Dinosaur Train. Bringing together trains and dinosaurs, the series made its UK and Ireland debut in March and currently airs every weekday on Nick Jr.
Existing Dinosaur Train licensees in the UK market include Tomy, the global master toy licensee for the brand, and Puffin for publishing products including paperback storybooks, and board and novelty books. Tomy will debut new products for the brand next year, including the innovative range of small, medium, and large Dinosaur Train InterAction Figures featuring SmartTalk technology. In addition, a broad range of Dinosaur Train characters and train cars will be available, providing a variety of opportunities for imaginative play.
Dinosaur Train currently has a roster of about 70 licensees around the world. In the U.S., these include VTech Electronics (electronic learning products), MegaBrands (construction toys), Uncle Milton (science toys and kits), Pressman Toy Corp. Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis is celebrating the holiday season with new collectible items and gift options. Products include an Elvis Kingman acoustic guitar from Fender, Mr. Potato Head Aloha Tribute to Elvis, Elvis pink Caddy seatbelt purses, Sing-A-Long Karaoke microphone glasses and hat, Lansky Bros. leopard jungle room shoes and belt, a Tommy Hilfiger Elvis T-shirt, Elvis Blue Hawaii Wacky Wobbler, and the Elvis Jailhouse Johnny Rock plush doll. Elvis Presley Enterprises, in partnership with Studio Licensing, Inc., has entered into an agreement with Bumblefly Global Enterprises, Inc., to launch Elvis branded men’s health granola/cereal bars. The bars will be made available across Canada next spring.
